Black Eyed Peas: Vietnamese Sweet Rice & Bean Pudding – Che Dau Trang

My family is a big fan of sticky rice pudding at Thai restaurants (often with coconut cream on top, and/or served beside some ripe mango), so when I saw this recipe for sticky rice with black eyed peas I knew we had to try it.

My grocery store didn’t stock glutenous or sticky rice, so I tried it with sushi rice and it was great. I made it with the sugar close to the low end of what they recommend — it was sweet enough to taste like a treat and not too beany, but not so sweet it felt unhealthy. Was easy to make on the stove at the same time as I was making dinner.

Was fun and felt like a good find, will make again.
